The trade-off is low-light flexibility. On cloudy days, late innings, or fields with heavy shade, Prizm Field can feel noticeably dark. If your games often move into cloud, shade, or evening light, Prizm Field may be too dark. A lighter lens, or a second low-light lens, will give you more flexibility.
For consistently bright afternoon games, though, Prizm Field is one of Oakley’s more purpose-built options for tracking the ball without washing out the rest of the field.

With 15% VLT, it is built for bright fields and strong sun. If most of your baseball or softball games happen under clear afternoon skies, that works in its favor. If you regularly play under clouds, deep shade, or fading evening light, it can become too dark.

No. Oakley Prizm Field is non-polarized.
For baseball and softball, the lack of polarization is not automatically a drawback. Polarization is most useful when reflected glare from surfaces such as water, wet roads, or snow is the main problem. Prizm Field instead focuses on bright-light control and contrast
Prizm Field reduces brightness and boosts contrast, but it does not use a polarization filter to block reflected glare.
That means you may notice more glare from wet grass, water, car windshields, or other reflective surfaces than you would through a polarized lens.
The upside is a simpler visual experience on the field.
For baseball and softball, where ball tracking and distance judgment matter more than cutting water glare, that trade-off makes sense.
Non-polarized lenses are also easier around digital displays.

At 15% VLT, Prizm Field is still very dark. You may be able to read your phone clearly outdoors, but that does not make it a good indoor, office, or everyday screen lens.
